He married in 1839, Maria Alves, eldest daughter of the late Dr. Hy. Boys, Bursar of the Toronto University who held high rank in the army during the Peninsula war. – (Obit. 86).

NORTHWOOD, John (Hon.) – Senator (1880-86) – Born January 11, 1809 at Westport, Mayo, Ireland – Died October 29, 1886 at Chatham, Ontario – He came to Canada in 1832 – He was a grandson of Mr. Jno. Northwood, who was at the capture of Quebec, and into whose arms Genl. Wolfe fell when he received his mortal wound. – (Obit. 86).
